Over the last few months, I have found myself becoming increasingly interested in the art of cooking healthy, tasty, and fulfilling foods. This interest first emerged when I was mindlessly scrolling through my explore page on Instagram. I stumbled across a profile that was entirely dedicated to posting healthy foods that had been cooked (for the most part) from scratch. I spent a considerable amount of time scrolling through the seemingly endless photos of home cooked meals. I soon realized that there was a whole community of these types of Instagrammers and bloggers who were passionate about healthy cooking and mindful eating that all connected with one another through their various social media platforms. I started following a handful of these accounts that on a daily basis post multiple photos of their cooking and I have since been itching to start a platform to post my own creations.
Every account that I follow caters to a different aspect of my interest, whether it be baking without any refined grains or sugars, cooking without any animal products, or just overall mindful eating. Since discovering this community base on Instagram, I have found myself more inspired and motivated in the kitchen. For example, I have began limiting my intake of dairy products and on some days I don’t consume any meat. I try to cook healthy, balanced meals without sacrificing any taste or enjoyment. I hope that through the rejuvenation of this blog into one that revolves around this interest of mine, I will be even more motivated than before to learn to cook foods that make me feel good.
Cooking has always been something that I have wanted to enjoy but I get discouraged because I don’t have the time, means, or skills to really develop it as a hobby. Growing up, I watched my mother cook so effortlessly and freely and I want to be able to hone in my cooking skills in order to capture her graceful essence in the kitchen. I want to make it a goal of mine to cook a new meal every week and to limit my usage of animal products while cooking. I want to be able to assert myself as part of a community that also is passionate about cooking wholesomely and creatively.
